When, earlier this year, we were asked to sponsor a horse for The Royal Mounted Guards, there was only one answer – YES! What an honour – and a happy coincidence.
The old horse Frey won the famous 320-kilometre race between Stockholm and Jönköping back in 1895. Our company name is taken from this wise, powerful old horse. Frey was famous, and his victory in the long-distance race was considered one of the greatest sporting achievements of its time.
The new Frey – The Royal Mounted Guards
When, earlier this year, we were asked to sponsor a horse for The Royal Mounted Guards, there was only one answer – YES! What an honour – and a happy coincidence. Horses are a natural part of our brand. Take a closer look at our logo and you’ll see, and our history reveals more.
According to military tradition, a horse born in a particular year is given a name that starts with a particular letter. Horses born in 2014, like Frey, were given the letter F. So for us the choice was easy: Frey for Freys. It’s nice to think of that old horse Frey living on today in Freys Hotel. For us at Freys it feels like closing the circle, while it is also a natural progression in our success story. Frey will be with The Royal Mounted Guards for about 15 years.
You will be able to follow Frey and what he’s up to on our website and social media.
